GOLF | Gaels Finish First Tourney of The Season with Hoey As Team Leader

SAN FRANCISCO – The Gaels Golf Team finished eighth overall at the USF Invitational on Tuesday afternoon and Mitchell Hoey came in tied for 12th among 60 golfers.
Hoey shot a 73 in round three, finishing 1-over par for the tournament at 241 strokes. The Alamo, Calif. native was just 1-over par on par threes and was 3-under par on par fives. He led the Gaels in total pars made with 36 and in birdies with nine.
Ryan Hartanto and Kristian Bressum were right behind him in birdies with eight. Jonathan Curran saved his best for last with a 72 on day three to finish with a 222 overall, and led SMC in par fours made at 2-over par.
Connor Reis had his best round on the final day as well, also shooting a 72 in round three to finish at 222 strokes. Curran and Reis climbed nine and 10 spots on the leaderboard respectively on the last day.
