GOLF | Husky Invitational Ahead for Gaels This Week

BREMERTON, Wash. – The Saint Mary's Golf Team will play in the Husky Invitational hosted by the University of Washington on September 19-20.
The tournament will feature 36 continuous holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Each round will tee off from holes one & 10.
The golfers playing as individuals will compete separately on a different course at Gold Mountain. The invitational will be held at the Olympic Course and the individual competition will be at the Cascade Course.
THE FIELD
SMC will compete against Washington, Oregon, Nevada, San Jose St, Colgate, Utah, Boise State, Oregon State, Seattle U, Washington State, Long Beach St, UC Davis, Duke, and USC.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels finished eighth overall at the USF Invitational on Tuesday afternoon and Mitchell Hoey came in tied for 12th among 60 golfers.
Hoey shot a 73 in round three, finishing 1-over par for the tournament at 241 strokes. The Alamo, Calif. native was just 1-over par on par threes and was 3-under par on par fives. He led the Gaels in total pars made with 36 and in birdies with nine.
HUSKY INVITATIONAL
The Course for the Husky Invitational is a Par 72 and 5,847 total yards at the Gold Mountain-Olympic Course.
The Gaels started last season at the Husky Invitational. Michael Slesinski led all golfers with two eagles at the Husky Invitational and finished second overall among 80 golfers in the individual portion of the tournament.
Slesinski shot a tournament-best 66 in the second round to go along with a 70 in round one and a 72 in round three to finish 8-under par overall. He had an opportunity to tie for first on the final put but it slipped just past the cup.
Mitchell Hoey improved his score in each round going from a 75, to a 73, to a 72 to finish with a 220 overall, tied with teammate Kristian Bressum, who made a birdie as well, for the next Gaels up on the team leaderboard.
