XC | Multiple Gaels with new PRs at Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Saint Mary's competed at the Bronco Invitational Saturday morning where both the men and women competed.
In the Invitational the men finished eighth out of 16 teams and the women placed ninth out of 21 teams. In the open the men finished fifth of 19 and the women finished third out of 18.
The top finisher for the men in the Invitational section was Blaine Reynolds in 35th place with a time of 24:24.8. It was Reynolds' best time this season and the ninth fastest in 8K in program history. The Gael behind him was Cayden Hein in 53rd with a time of 24:41.7. Curtis Volf finished in 60th with a time of 24:46.4 to complete the top three finishers for the men. Both Luke Bland and Luther Hart broke the 25 minute mark for the first time in their careers, rounding out the Gael top five.
In the open, the top three finishers for the men were Jacob Bravo, securing the 51st spot with a time of 25:52.2, Thomas Osborne, with a time of 25:57.3 in 58th place, and Payton Fox in 65th with a time of 26:02.1.
The top three women who competed in the Invitational section finished in 7th, 25th, and 26th. Rayna Stanziano was the leader for SMC with a time of 20:07.2. This was the third fastest 6K both in Stanziano's career and in program history. Kaylee Barnes finished in 25th place with a new PR time of 20:54.6 and now holds the ninth fastest 6K all-time for SMC. Just 0.3 seconds behind her was Molly Dreher also with a new PR of 20:54.9, for SMC's 10th fastest 6K.
Three other Gaels also hit their PR: Eleanor Jepsen who competed in the Invitational, along Sydney Rome and Michaela Martin, who competed in the open. Jepsen's new PR is 21:36.0 and was good for 61st in the Invitational. Rome finished 12th in the open with her new PR time of 22:22.4. Martin finished 20th with a new PR time of 22:57.5.
In the open, Emily Fields placed 8th for the Gaels with a time of 21:57.6 and Ana Mercado finished 16th with a time of 22:43.0. Overall in the open, Fields took 8th, Rome secured the 12th spot, Mercado finished 16th, while Martin finished in the 20th spot.
Women's Head Coach, Marty Kinsey said "the women had a great tune-up today at Bronco. We're very confident heading to the WCC Championships. We have a few things to work on to accomplish our end of season goals, but we are right where we want to be heading into the final weeks."
