BVB | Gaels Make Season Debut at San Jose State Pairs Event

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Eight Gaels pairs spent their Friday afternoon on the sand on the campus of San Jose State in their first pairs event of the year. Every single pair recorded at least one win, in what looks like an exciting preview for the upcoming 2024 season.
Cameron Martnez and Paola Peralta played in three matches, the most of any pair, winning two and splitting a pair of sets for a tie in their third. The duos of Hawley Harrer/Hannah Couch, Allie Cataldo/Sadie Shipman and Sarah Incitti/Chloe Swanson all went a perfect 2-0 in their matches for the afternoon. Swanson was one of six newcomers making her debut in a Gael uniform. Paired with sophomore Grace Travis, freshman Delaney Nicholls went 1-0-1 in her debut, while the freshman duo of Shannon Maccallum and Casey Beaman also went 1-0-1. Rounding out the group were the pairs of newcomer AJ Slojkowski and returner Karmin Brown and returner Angie Bour and newcomer Nya Crump, who each went 1-1 in their two matches.
All in all, newcomers and returners alike for the Gaels demonstrated effective defensive and offensive skills, strategies and tactics throughout the event.
