MORAGA, Calif. – For the first time in four years the Saint Mary's Baseball program is able to sell tickets at their home ballpark when
tickets go on sale today. The Gaels will play their first season in Brother Ronald Gallagher Stadium beginning February 16, 2024 against Oakland University.
Â
Construction on the stadium preceded by the COVID-19 pandemic have kept the program from offering season ticket packages for the past four seasons. Now fans can enjoy a brand-new facility to watch NCAA Division-I baseball in Moraga from a program that churned out MLB All Stars and a conference championship in Head Coach
Eric Valenzuela's previous tenure as Head Coach at SMC.
Â
Season ticket packages are $425 and include reserved seats in Chairback Section B, C, D and E of the new ballpark. Fans will now get to enjoy 14 rows of built-in seating that amounts to 648 permanent stadium seats at the new complex, along with a covered landing and drink rail at the top of both sides of the grandstand. An open space with standing tables is available off the first-base line for patrons to enjoy concessions as well.
Â
The Gaels are coming off a trip to the semifinals of the WCC tournament after upending top-seed LMU, and if opening-day starter
Derik Eaquinto hadn't been lost to a mid-season injury, it's quite possible they could have gotten even further. Saint Mary's also returns the majority of an offense that hit 76 home runs last year for a Saint Mary's single-season record.
Â
Those returners include WCC Co-Conference Player of the year
Christian Almanza, as well as left fielder
Coleman Schmidt. They tied for the second-most home runs in a single season in SMC history in 2023 with 16, trailing only Troy Channing's 20 long balls in 2009.
Â
Along with Eaquinto's return the Gaels will also have
Connor Linchey back on the mound, who became the Friday starter and went 5-1 with a 3.11 ERA in 15 games with 11 starts. Five members of last year's bullpen who had sub-4.00 ERAs are back for 2024 as well.
