MORAGA, Calif. — The
Aidan Mahaney mania continues with another WCC Freshman of The Week Award for the Gaels' young star.
Â
Aidan Mahaney had a pair of 10+ point performances to help the Gaels stay atop the WCC with just two games remaining. Mahaney scored 13 points in a three-point road win at San Diego, and then played an even bigger role as the Gaels beat BYU at home on Saturday night.
Â
He scored 16 points, including 14 in the second half as the game tightened up. For the week, he averaged 14.5 points per game and shot 45.5% from beyond the arc. With the award win for Mahaney, he now has 10 on the year, tying him with Jalen Suggs of Gonzaga (2020-21) for the most in the history of the award.
Â
The final week of the regular season is about as jam-packed as it can be, with two very different, yet important games. First up is the Gaels only game against the Pacific Tigers this season, on Thursday night at 7:00 pm inside University Credit Union Pavilion.
Â
That game will serve as Senior Night for SMC (final home game of the year). The first 1,000 fans will receive a Corbin Burnes SMC Baseball Gnome and the first 500 fans will receive a
Randy Bennett 500 Win T-Shirt, all presented by Common Interest Management.
Â
Then the Gaels head to Spokane for a game that could decide the regular season championship in the WCC, with top-off against No. 12 Gonzaga set for 7:00 pm on Saturday night. That game has also been picked up by ESPN for College Gameday.
