SAN MATEO, Calif. – As the Gaels gear up for WCC play this week, the conference has announced that Jordan Harris and Lene Mari Hovda are the WCC Women's Doubles Team of the Week for their performance against San Jose State over the weekend.
The experienced doubles duo has had a great start to the season, having gone 6-3 in their doubles matches thus far. Their wins have come against Nevada, Iowa, Sacramento State, Washington State, and Eastern Washington.
Harris and Hovda were all business this past weekend as they took on San Jose State's Alba Pedrero Galindo and Carolina Millan. The Spartans duo got off to a quick start, but the Gaels pairing remained calm, as they battled themselves back into the match.
After two quick breaks, Harris and Hovda found themselves in the driver's seat. They were able to hold serve and close out the match 6-4.
Despite their clutch victory, the Gaels were unable to snatch victory away from the Spartans, as a handful of injuries in the singles matches forced the Gaels to retire early.
Harris, Hovda and the rest of the SMC Women's Tennis team will rest up this week before they head down to Santa Clara on Friday March 24 to open up conference play against the Broncos.
