TAGUIG, Philippines — The 38th rendition of the Philippine Basketball Association was held on September 17, with a familiar face to Gaels fans being selected with the first pick, as Terrafirma Dyip selected Stephen Holt '14 number one overall.
Holt played for the Gaels from 2010-14, and was a four-time All-WCC honoree. Over his four seasons in Moraga, Holt appeared in 127 games, starting 95. He graduated ranked 10th all-time in scoring with 1370 points (now 13th) and second all-time in steals with 173. While Holt was a part of the Saint Mary's squad, the Gaels enjoyed a 103-34 record, two WCC regular season titles (one shared, one outright), a WCC Tournament Title (2012), two NCAA Tournament berths, and two NIT berths.
Following his time with Saint Mary's, Holt went undrafted, but spent time in the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers organizations before beginning his overseas career. His international highlights include being named co-MVP of the 2015 NBL Preseason Tournament with Melbourne United, being named to the 2015-16 All-NBL second team (also with Melbourne), winning the 2017 Czech NBL Title with CEZ Nymburk, and leading CSM U Oradea to a bronze medal finish at the 2021 FIBA Europe Cup. His career has spanned three continents, and will add a fourth when he begins this upcoming season for Terrafirma Dyip.
