MORAGA, Calif. — National Signing Day is always a day of excitement for basketball coaches and fans alike, as it is a day in which they can begin to see a glimpse of what their roster of the future will look like. For Saint Mary's, the Gaels will now see their roster of the future with another young star, as Dillan Shaw has officially signed to join the Gaels for the 2025-26 season.
Shaw, 6-7 wing out of Northridge, comes in as the 89th ranked player in the high school class of 2025 according to 247Sports, and the 10th ranked player from the state of California. He received 16 offers from schools all over the western region, including power-fours Stanford and Cal, and WCC foes LMU, Pepperdine, Portland, San Diego and San Francisco. He will be the highest rated (according to 247) high school commit to Saint Mary's in program history, surpassing his future teammate, Jordan Ross.
Shaw prepped at Heritage Christian High School and played AAU Ball for Compton Magic. At Heritage, Shaw led his team to an Olympic League Title in 2023, and made it all the way to the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 AA Semifinals, falling to eventual champion St. Anthony HS. Their deep run also earned them a spot in the CIF Division 2 State Tournament, where they made it all the way to the Southern Regional Finals. For Compton Magic, Shaw played alongside five star prospect Koa Peat and New Mexico commit Isaac Williamson, helping lead that squad to a 26-7 record on The Circuit.
"With my size I'm able to do everything," noted Shaw about his game, "I want to always impact the game, even if I'm not scoring, I'm defending, I'm rebounding, I'm getting the loose ball…We're going to win a lot of games, and I look forward to impacting the game and being a great teammate." This is the style of player that Coach Bennett and his staff are excited about, someone who is not looking to just call his own number, but will do what it takes to make the team better.
