SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — With one week to play in the regular season, Odhi Vasquez has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the West Coast Conference. This past weekend, Odhi was called upon to start a pair of contests against the San Diego Toreros, and delivered a pair of complete game gems, en route to a Gaels sweep. As such, she was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season and fourth time in her career. Vasquez and Mia Nishikawa have now combined to win this award five times in the 12 weeks its been awarded this year.
Vasquez, a sophomore from Upland, worked a pair of complete game victories against the Toreros. She tossed her fourth complete game shutout of the year in the opener on Friday, with five strikeouts. She followed that up by bouncing back from a three run first to toss six scoreless frames in the Sunday finale. Through 46 outings throughout her SMC career, Vasquez is the active leader in wins (17), complete games (17), shutouts (6, 9th most in program history), innings pitched (206), strikeouts (181) and ERA (2.58).
