INDIANAPOLIS — This past summer, Saint Mary's Softball senior Lindsay Cabral took part in the NCAA's NIL Summit in Atlanta. Inspired by the event, Cabral went on to apply for the newly launched NCAA x Meta NIL Empower program. Cabral was accepted into the program and now continues her deep dive into the ever changing landscape of collegiate athletes and NIL.
The NCAA x Meta NIL Empower Program is a collaboration that will help women maximize their name, image and likeness endeavors throughout their time as college athletes. Participants will have the opportunity to form direct relationships with Meta experts, who will provide product and business best practices. Participants also will make valuable connections with other student-athletes and industry professionals and receive exclusive access to various NCAA events. The program will include education on building a community, using social media safety resources and preparing for the future. Corporate partner Invesco QQQ will assist the NCAA in building a financial literacy and career development session.
In her time at Saint Mary's, Cabral has not only been a standout on the softball diamond but also has been an excellent leader on campus. She became an active member of the Saint Mary's Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and will serve as this year's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee chair. Cabral was also the driving force behind many Saint Mary's Softball community service initiatives as well as having last year's final home doubleheader serve as a Mental Health Awareness game on campus. With her ability to be a clear on campus leader, there is no question that Cabral will not only learn a lot from the NIL Empower Program, but will also be happy to share that knowledge with her fellow Gael student-athletes.
