SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Since the rolling over of the calendar for 2025, there has been only one WCC Freshman of the Week winner, and that student-athlete is Saint Mary's own
Mikey Lewis. Lewis picked up his third honor of the season after averaging 13.5 points per contest and shooting 58% from the field and 63% from beyond the arc in the Gaels two wins over LMU and San Diego. Lewis now has taken sole possession of most WCC Freshman of the Week honors, surpassing Austin Rapp (Portland), Jaxon Olvera (Pepperdine) and teammate
Andrew McKeever, who are all two time winners.
Mikey Lewis put together yet another solid week, as he continues to make a case for himself to be named WCC Freshman of the Year. He got things started on Tuesday against LMU, entering the game with the score tied at seven apiece, and scoring nine of the Gaels next 11 points over the ensuing six minutes, helping them extend their lead out to 19-9, eventually winning 81-56. Then, in the Gaels offensive explosion against the Toreros in San Diego, Mikey led all scorers with 18 points, missing just once from the field, setting career highs in field goal percentage (87.5%) and three point percentage (80%) for a single game. Lewis moved up to 13th all-time amongst true freshman scoring under Coach Bennett's tutelage.
Lewis and the Gaels will be back in Southern California this weekend to take on Pepperdine.
