MXC | Strong Finish at NCAA West Regionals Caps Successful Season for the Gaels

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Saint Mary's Men's Cross Country closed out their season with a 15th place finish out of 30 competing teams at the NCAA West Regionals, just one spot shy of the program's best ever finish of 14th.
After earning All-WCC Honors, Divan Du Plooy finished first for the Gaels for the second consecutive race. The race marked the juniors first ever collegiate 10k and he delivered a strong performance, securing his spot in 50th and crossing the finish line in 30:24.7, the best finish by a Gael since 2021. Zane Jackson followed in 65th overall in 30:45.5. Just behind him was Oisin Spillane, who earned his best time of 30:48.0 for a 68th place finish. Jason Habash was next in for Saint Mary's, crossing the line in 31:40.3 and Jonathan Velasco rounded out the scoring for the Gaels, clocking in at 32:13.0.
After a season highlighted by leadership from both veteran and younger Gaels, Saint Mary's closed out the year with standout performances at major meets. With their best finish at the West Coast Conference Championships in 25 years and nearly meeting the program's best ever NCAA West Regionals finish, Saint Mary's showcased a combination of talent, depth, and growth. The performances this season provides a strong foundation for a bright future in the 2026 season.
