MXC | Habash and Jackson Named to WCC All-Academic Team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — For the second consecutive season, the Saint Mary's Men's Cross Country team has had multiple student-athletes earn a West Coast Conference First Team All-Academic nod, as Jason Habash earned his spot for the second straight year, while Zane Jackson picked up his first acknowledgment since joining the Gaels. To be considered for a spot on the WCC All-Academic team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team and in at least their second year at their school.
Jason Habash earned his second straight all-academic nod, now in his fourth year competing for the Gaels. The Millbrae native competed in four of seven races for the Gaels this season, scoring in the Bill Dellinger, the WCC Championship and the NCAA Regional. He set a new 8K PR at the Dellinger, finishing at 25:01.6, good for 50th. He also holds the highest GPA amongst undergrads on the team at 3.93 as a politics major.
Zane Jackson earned all-academic honors in his first year eligible for it this year. Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, Zane ran in four of seven races for the Gaels this season, scoring in all of them and pacing the Gaels at the Kim Duyst (6th overall) and the Bill Dellinger (16th overall). He ran an 8K PR at the Duyst with a time of 23:36.7. A grad student in the sports management program at Saint Mary's, Zane holds a 3.95 GPA.
