Alexandro Alvarez Wins Pair of Races, Earns Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — The Johnny Mathis Invitational was a big meet for sophomore Alexandro Alvarez. The Pasadena, California native won both of the races he ran in, leading Saint Mary's to a fourth place team finish at the event. Alvarez is the first men's track runner to win this award this year, and is the first Eric Martinez, who won the award twice last season.

Alvarez won the 800m race, finishing 1-2 with teammate Jason Habash, running a new PR of 1:53.40. He followed that up by running the third leg of the 4x400m race, leading the Gaels to victory in that event as well. Alvarez has now PRd this season in the 800m, 1500m, mile and 3000m this season.
