SB | Nishikawa Picks Up Third Career WCC Pitcher of the Week Honor After 2-0 Week
4/7/2025 1:01:00 PM | Softball
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Over her past three outings, sophomore pitcher Mia Nishikawa has been on a tear. The Fresno native has gone 3-0 over her last three appearances, surrendering just three runs over 15.1 innings, including a pair of victories this week. As such, Nishikawa has been honored as the WCC Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season, and the third time in her career.
Mia Nishikawa pitched her way to a pair of complete game victories this week, including her first complete game shutout of the season. That shutout came on Tuesday in a non-conference affair against UC Davis. In that one, Nishikawa was able to strand nine Aggie runners on the paths, and recorded a career-high six strikeouts. She then got the ball in the conference opener at Pacific, and after giving up a two run blast in the first, recovered to allow 0 runs and just two hits through the final five as the Gaels offense rallied for a 12-2 victory. After a 3-5 start in the circle, Nishikawa has now picked up wins in each of her last three outings to move over 0.500 for the year at 6-5.
After opening conference play this past weekend, Nishikawa and the Gaels will now have their conference bye week, but will take on Florida State on Wednesday, April 9 at 3 PM this week.
