PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Over the past few seasons, Saint Mary's has played in some marquee Multi-Team Tournaments (MTE). Appearing in one of these events every season since 2020-21, the Gaels have seen the likes of Power-Four and top tier Mid-Major programs alike in venues such as the Sanford Pentagon, Michelob Ultra Arena, Honda Center, T-Mobile Arena and Acrisure Arena. This season, however, the Gaels will make an international trip to the Bahamas to take part in the Battle 4 Atlantis, widely regarded as one of the top talent MTEs in college basketball.
Today, the Battle 4 Atlantis announced the official bracket for the tournament that will span from November 26 through November 28. The Gaels will get the finale matchup of day one, taking on Wichita State on ESPN2 at 4:30 PM PST. Like the Gaels, the Shockers are regarded as a mid-major powerhouse, with 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, including seven straight between 2012 and 2018. Ending a three season postseason drought last year with a berth to the NIT, the matchup between the Shockers and Gaels is an intriguing opening matchup. The Gaels have only seen Wichita State once in program history, way back in 1959.Â
On day two, the Gaels will see either Colorado State or Virginia Tech. Sixth year Virginia Tech Head Coach Mike Young is looking to revamp his Hokies squad after a 13-19 year, while Colorado State will look to make their third straight NCAA Tournament, now led by Ali Farokhmanesh, who was an assistant on Niko Medved's Rams squads before he departed for Minnesota. Saint Mary's has never played Virginia Tech in program history, while they last saw Colorado State in 2023, handing the Rams their first loss of that season.Â
On the other side of the bracket are Western Kentucky (17-15 last season, 2024 NCAA Tournament Berth), Vanderbilt (20-13 last season, 2025 NCAA Tournament Berth), VCU (28-7 last season, 2025 NCAA Tournament Berth), and South Florida (13-19, 2012 NCAA Tournament Berth). All three of the Gaels contests will be broadcast on the ESPN Family of Networks (ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU).Â
