MORAGA, Calif. — With their first season fast approaching, Saint Mary's welcomes Jamie Steingraf as an assistant coach for the men's water polo program.
Steingraf joins the Gaels with a strong background in both coaching and playing. Prior to arriving in Moraga, he spent time with the Lamorinda Water Polo Club, where he served as the goalkeeper coach for the club and an assistant coach for the under-18 boys A team. Steingraf also made a coaching stop for the West Valley Water Polo club, serving as the goalkeeper coach while competing at the collegiate level.
A graduate of San Jose State, Steingraf earned a bachelor's degree in communication and media studies, while competing for the Spartan's Water Polo team. Steingraf spent his first three seasons in front of the cage, making 157 saves over 35 matches, and helping lead the Spartans to the 2023 West Coast Conference Title and the program's first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1973. As a senior, Steingraf made a position change from goalkeeper to attacker, and capped a solid career with 31 goals and 12 assists in his final season. While competing for San Jose State, Steingraf was very active in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, being elected the Publicity Chair of the SAAC Executive Council as a senior.
With his wealth of knowledge and experience competing at the NCAA Division I level, Steingraf looks to help the Gaels make an immediate impact in the West Coast Conference starting in the Fall of 2026.
