MORAGA, Calif. — As Saint Mary's Men's Water Polo prepares for its first season in program history, the Gaels are excited to welcome the team's first signee, Domenico Barillà.
Joining the Gaels from Rome, Italy, left-handed driver Domenico Barillà arrives in Moraga with 10 years of competitive experience. During the 2024-2025 season, he played for the Onda Forte club team that competes in Italy's top water polo league. Barillà is also on the roster for the under-18 Italian national team. Throughout his athletic career, Barillà has earned a gold medal at the 2024 under-18 Italian Championship Finals and a silver medal at the 2025 under-18 Italian Championship Finals.
Barillà is just the first building block of the new upstart Gaels Men's Polo program, currently being built by Head Coach James Lathrop, as the Gaels get geared up and ready to compete in their debut season in the WCC.
