Alex Cutonilli Provides Offensive Firepower in Gaels’ Sweep of Toreros, Earns Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — Coming off of a week that featured a three shutout sweep of San Diego for Saint Mary's Softball, there was much buzz about the Gaels pitching staff, but you can't win if you can't score, and driving a large chunk of the Gaels' offense this week was Alex Cutonilli. The junior out of Oakley helped the Gaels to 24 runs over the three game set, and has been named the Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
It was a prolific offensive weekend for Cutonilli in San Diego, going 6-8 at the plate with six runs scored and four runs driven in. The junior had a double and a home run mixed into her impressive statline. In the opening game of the series in San Diego, Cutonilli drove in both of the Gaels' runs in a 2-0 decision. She then scored three in game two of the series, an 11-0 win, and drove in two while scoring two more in the finale, also an 11-0 win. Cutonilli is now batting a team-best .462 in WCC play, and ranks second on the team with 46 hits, nine doubles, and 36 RBI throughout the entirety of the season.
