STATELINE, Nev. — As the Gaels continue to build an exciting and formidable 2026-27 non-conference schedule, the Saint Mary's basketball team is set to take on the Nevada Wolf Pack on Nov. 8 at the Tahoe Blue Event Center.
This is the second Mountain West foe added to the Gaels' fall slate, as Saint Mary's will face New Mexico in December. The contest will mark the 90th all-time meeting between the Gaels and Wolf Pack, and will be the first ever men's college basketball game played at the Tahoe Blue Event Center, which opened in September 2023. Ticket information for the event will be announced later this summer.
A year ago, the Nevada Wolf Pack went 24-13, finishing tied for fifth in the MW standings. After falling to the top-seeded Utah State Aggies in the conference tournament semifinals, the Wolf Pack earned their sixth NIT bid in program history. Nevada would go on to defeat both Murray State and Liberty in the first two rounds of the NIT, before falling to eventual champion Auburn in the quarter finals. All-Conference big man Elijah Price returns to the 2026-27 squad after averaging 12.8 PPG and 8.5 RPG last season.
Additional 2026-27 game announcements can be found at smcgaels.com. Upper reserved and general admission season tickets for the 2026-27 men's basketball season are on sale now and can be officially requested HERE.
A New, Exciting Era for Saint Mary's Men's Basketball
A new era of Saint Mary's Men's Basketball officially tips off this fall with former standout Gael Mickey McConnell now serving as the Gaels' head coach after having been an instrumental piece of the program for decades, first as a student-athlete and then as associate head coach.
Saint Mary's is building a competitive non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, which includes a home game against Saint Louis (Nov. 20) and neutral site contests with Nevada in South Lake Tahoe (Nov. 8) and UCLA (Nov. 26) and Texas or Georgetown (Nov. 27) during Feast Week in San Diego's Rady Children's Invitational. The Gaels will also be tested during road games at Oklahoma State (Dec. 5) and New Mexico (Dec. 12). Additional nonconference contests will be released throughout the summer.
Tickets are available for the Rady Children's Invitational through the SMC Ticket Office until July 31 at SMCGaels.com.
The Gaels, who are seeking their fifth straight West Coast Conference title and sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, will also play a designated 16-game league slate with home and road games against LMU, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Seattle U, along with one home-only opponent (San Diego) and one away-only opponent (Denver), as the conference officially announced on June 2.
