MBB | Gaels to Host Utah State in Preseason Exhibition on October 17

MORAGA, Calif. —As the Gaels continue to prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 season, the Saint Mary's men's basketball program will host the new-look Pac-12's Utah State Aggies in an exhibition contest on Oct. 17 at University Credit Union Pavilion.
Tip off for the exhibition, which is included in the Gaels' season ticket package, is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT. Tickets are available by purchasing or renewing a season ticket package here or emailing smctickets@stmarys-ca.edu.
This exhibition contest features two of the top college basketball programs in the Western United States while both the Gaels and Aggies have been working hard building competitive squads year in and year out.
Saint Mary's and Utah State have faced off five times in the regular season in the last ten years, with the Gaels winning three of those meetings. In that same time frame, the two programs have combined for 13 NCAA Tournament berths.

A new era of Saint Mary's Men's Basketball officially tips off this fall with former standout Gael Mickey McConnell now serving as the Gaels' head coach after having been an instrumental piece of the program for decades, first as a student-athlete and then as associate head coach.
Saint Mary's is building a competitive non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, which includes a home game against Saint Louis (Nov. 20) and neutral site contests with Nevada in South Lake Tahoe (Nov. 8) and UCLA (Nov. 26) and Texas or Georgetown (Nov. 27) during Feast Week in San Diego's Rady Children's Invitational. The Gaels will also be tested during road games at Oklahoma State (Dec. 5) and New Mexico (Dec. 12).
Additional nonconference contests, along with the remainder of the Gaels' October exhibition slate, will be released throughout the summer.

The Gaels, who are seeking their fifth straight West Coast Conference title and sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, will also play a designated 16-game league slate with home and road games against LMU, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Seattle U, along with one home-only opponent (San Diego) and one away-only opponent (Denver), as the conference officially announced on June 2.
