SYDNEY, Australia – The Saint Mary's men's basketball team spent their second full day in Sydney taking in more of what the city has to offer, as they continued to get adjusted to being down under as part of their 12-day foreign tour.
An early morning trip across the Sydney Harbor ended at Manly Beach, where the Gaels explored and some even ventured into the ocean during the winter season. The return Harbor tour showed off beautiful sights of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge.
After touring the beach, the Gaels then turned their attention to an afternoon practice session. Wednesday's practice was the first full practice, as the intensity picked up in preparation for Thursday's opening tour game.
Following practice, the team hosted a dinner to welcome back local Australian alumni to join the group. Former Gaels Daniel Kickert, Lucas Walker, Jorden Page and Harry Wessels met the team and enjoyed dinner together.
The former Gaels weren't the only ones in Sydney with ties to Saint Mary's. The Gaels had a surprise visit from former coach Eran Ganot, who was with his current team the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, also on a foreign tour in Sydney and staying at the same hotel as the Gaels.
Saint Mary's has two more days in Sydney, with back-to-back games on the schedule.
