Biography

AS A FIFTH YEAR (2022-23): One of four Gaels to start all 35 games, including all four postseason games...played the 12th most minutes in Saint Mary's history (1,216), averaging 34.7 per game to lead the team...finished as the Gaels leading scorer at 14.5 points per game, the best in his career...shot 44.9% from the field and 30.7% from beyond the arc...led the team in free throws made (107), assists (125, career-best), and steals (55)...leading rebounder for Saint Mary's among guards with a career-best 5.0 per game...eclipsed the 1,000-point mark at Saint Mary's in an overtime win against No. 12 Gonzaga on February 4...saved some of his best performances of the season for the end of the year, including a two-game stretch where he scored 65 points against LMU and Portland on February 9-11...scored 31 and 34 points, respectively, the latter of which came on just 11 made shots...scored at least 27 points in five of six games from February 9-25, also winning a WCC Player of the Week award during that run...recorded his first double-double in the Gaels NCAA Tournament win over VCU, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds...named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, the first Gael to do so since 2017...was named to the Lou Henson Award watch list during the season and was named a finalist for the award at the end of the year...chosen by the USBWA as an All-District First Team selection...ends his Saint Mary's career as the 23rd-leading scorer in program history, with the fourth most steals.

AS A SENIOR (2021-22): Played in and started all 34 of the Gaels games ... finished third on the Gaels in scoring with 11.9 points per game in ... led SMC in minutes per game, averaging 31.8 … posted career highs in assists per game (2.6), rebounds per game (4.1), and steals per game (2.0) … his 67 steals led the West Coast Conference and were second all time for most steals in a single season by a Gael … scored double-digit points in 12 of the final 14 games of the season … scored 20 points including 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the Gaels NCAA Tournament win against Indiana … averaged 18.3 ppg in the Gaels 4 postseason games …  tied a career with 26 points in a win vs. Yale … had 5 steals on two different occasions … was named All-Tournament team in the early season Maui Invitational … won WCC Conference Player of the Week: January 3 and February 28 … named All-WCC Second Team, his second-consecutive season with All-WCC honors

AS A JUNIOR (2020-21): Made 17 starts and 20 total appearances while averaging 32.0 mpg …. Named All-WCC Second Team … Led Saint Mary’s in scoring with 13.3 points per game … Also averaged 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 rebounds … Came alive during WCC play with 15.5 ppg while averaging over 35 minutes per contest … Scored a career-high 26 points against Santa Clara on Jan. 9 while going 9-of-14 from the field and 7-for-9 at the charity stripe … Posted 10 or more points for a 10-game stretch during conference play and the WCC Tournament … Put up 25 points in the WCC Tournament quarterfinals to help the Gaels defeat Loyola Marymount 52-47 … Had five assists on two different occasions … Second on the team with 19 steals … Picked up six blocks on the year … Shot .745 from the free throw line … Missed four games early in the season after spraining ankle against Northern Iowa … Scored 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench in return against San Jose State on Dec. 11 … Was chosen as the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week twice.


AS A SOPHOMORE (2019-20): Appeared in 25 games and started the first four games of the season...Played 36 minutes and scored five points in his Gaels’ debut versus Wisconsin in the season-opener on Nov. 5...Was granted an immediate transfer waiver just weeks prior to the first game of the year...Averaged 6.6 minutes and 1.4 points per game...Had 10 steals in 164 total minutes...Tied season-high with five points against Seattle on Dec. 28...Went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe versus Dayton on Dec. 8...Four assists against Sonoma State on Nov. 24.

AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19):
Played first year at Cincinnati ... Played in 32 games as a reserve, averaging 2.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists … Stole a pass from Isaiah Maurice of Memphis with one second remaining to secure Cincinnati’s 71-69 home win over the Tigers (3/2) ... scored as many as eight points twice against North Carolina Central (11/13) and UAPB (11/27) … handed out a season-high six assists without a turnover in 21 minutes against Milwaukee (11/16) ... scored seven points, including 5-of-6 free throws in seven minutes against UCLA (12/19) ... grabbed a season-high seven rebounds against South Carolina State (12/22) … posted four points, three rebounds, two steals and a block in 11 minutes at Temple (1/27).

HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals as a senior at Saint Francis High School, helping lead the Lancers in the Division I Playoffs ... tabbed West Catholic Athletic League First Team, San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro First Team, MaxPreps All-NorCal Second Team and SportsStars Magazine All-NorCal First Team as a senior ... guided the Lancers to the Northern California Division II championship game, averaging 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals as a junior ... named West Catholic Athletic League Most Valuable Player, the San Francisco Chronicle Player of the Year, the Cal Hi Sports Bay Area Player of the Year, a Mercury News First Team All-Bay Area selection, a Pangos All-American and a Cal Hi Sports Third Team All-State honoree as a junior ... tabbed a four-star prospect according to Scout.com, Johnson was listed among the Top 20 players in the Golden State and among the Top 150 players in the nation by 247 Sports and Rivals.com.
