SMC's responsibilities related to NCAA and WCC regulations extend beyond entities within the Athletics Department. In addition to its coaches, staff and student-athletes, SMC is also responsible for the actions of its fans and boosters. Therefore, it is important that all of these individuals understand NCAA rules related to their actions.
Under NCAA legislation, you are considered an SMC booster, also known as a "representative of athletics interest," if you are any of the following:
SMC Student
SMC Employee
SMC Alumnus
SMC Donor
SMC Ticket Holder
You are also considered an SMC booster if you have done any of the following:
- Participated in (or been a member of) an agency or organization promoting SMC Athletics;
- Made financial contributions to SMCÂ Athletics or to a SMC Athletics booster organization;
- Been asked by an SMC Athletics Department staff member to assist in the recruitment of a prospective student-athlete; or
- Been involved in promoting SMC Athletics.
