| 2025/26 Dance and Cheer Team Information: The Saint Mary's Dance Team consists of women who dance to traditional Saint Mary's fight songs and Sports Band rock songs. During basketball season, the team dances on the sidelines and on the basketball court during time-outs and performs entertaining half-time productions. The Dance Team travels with the basketball teams to the West Coast Conference and NCAA (when applicable) postseason tournaments. New in the Fall of 2025 will be the SMC Cheer Team. Present at all basketball home games as well as post season tournaments, the Cheer Squad will be taking the lead on pumping up the crowd in UCU. Outside of athletic events, the Dance and Cheer Teams perform at various alumni and community events including alumni pre-game parties and local festivals. The Spirit Team and Cheer Squad are partially funded by the Athletic Department, Saint Mary's College as well team members themselves. 2025/26 Tryout Information Dance Team & Cheer Squad Auditions are open to anyone currently enrolled at SMC and in good academic standing. Initial auditions will be held in the spring for current SMC students with additional tryouts in the fall for incoming First Year students. In order to attend you must complete an application by clicking HERE. Once completed, you will receive an email with all pertinent audition information. When attending the audition, you must bring your student ID, a current photo of yourself(preferably a head shot). Photos will be used for identification purposes only, not as criteria for judging.
