Biography
AS A SENIOR (2022-23): One of four Gaels to start all 35 games on the season, including four in the postseason...finished second on the team with 33.5 minutes per game, good for the 15th-most minutes in a single season in Gaels history (1,174)...shot 41.4% from the field and was third on the team with a 37.9% three-point percentage, making 33 triples...finished seventh in the WCC in rebounds per game at 7.1, a career-best...also had career-bests in assists (61), blocks (31) and steals (43)...had the best assist/turnover ratio in the conference among qualifying players...scored 10 or more points on seven occasions, including a career-best 16 points in a home win over New Mexico State on December 14, where he went 4-6 from beyond the arc...had back-to-back games of 14 and 13 points at San Francisco and Pepperdine...had three-straight games of 13+ rebounds from December 29-January 3, with 13 against San Diego and then 15 in consecutive games against Santa Clara and the Academy of Art...named West Coast Conference All-Academic First Team for the second-straight season...honored by College Sports Communicators as an Academic All-District selection for the first time in his career.
AS A JUNIOR (2021-22): Appeared in and started all 34 games for the Gaels … posted a career high in points per game (5.6), assists per game (1.3), free throw percentage (71.4%), three-point field goal percentage (39.2%), and minutes per game (29.4) … three-point field goal percentage was second-best on the team, only behind Tommy Kuhse ... scored a career high 12 points on four different occasions, the first of which came in the season-opening win over Prairie View A&M ... matched the career-best against Stanislaus State, Loyola Marymount, and San Diego … tied for second on the team with 14 blocks … pulled down nine rebounds in three different games, including two of those 12-point performances … played 30 or more minutes in 20 games this season … had three steals against Pepperdine on Jan. 29 ... had a 14-game stretch with at least one made shot from beyond the arc from January 22 - March 8.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2020-21): Appeared in all 24 games and made six starts … Made his first career start against No. 1 Gonzaga on Jan. 16 … Led the team in rebounds with 5.8 per game … Averaged 25.1 minutes per game and 29.2 minutes in conference games … Totaled 4.0 points per game, had 16 steals, and was tied for third on the team with nine blocks … Scored a career-high 10 points twice against Nicholls and Eastern Washington … Shot .351 from the field and was 15-of-62 from 3-point range … Played a full 40 minutes for the first time in his career against San Francisco on Jan. 23 … Grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds against Sacramento State on Dec. 30 … Started against No. 1 Gonzaga in the WCC Tournament … Shot .706 at the free throw line.
AS A FRESHMAN (2019-20): Played in 31 games and averaged 11.0 minutes...Scored 1.7 ppg and grabbed 1.9 rpg...Had a key offensive rebound in the final seconds in his first career game versus Wisconsin to help the Gaels secure the win...Averaged 13.3 minutes during conference play, seventh most on the team...Had season-best seven points and seven rebounds against Loyola Marymount on Feb. 20...Season-high 25 minutes in double overtime game versus Pepperdine in the WCC Tournament...Grabbed six rebounds in Gaels’ win over No. 14 BYU in the WCC Tournament...Posted three offensive boards against Cal Poly on Nov. 17.Â
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Bowen spent the past two years at the Centre of Excellence in Canberra...Helped lead the Under 18 Australian National Team to a gold medal at the Asia Cup in August, where he averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per game...At the Under 17 Oceania Championships, Bowen averaged 16 points and 5 rebounds, including a 36-point game in the semifinals of the tournament...Played for Australia at the Under 18 FIBA World Cup over the summer alongside Alex Ducas.
