In the spring of 2025, Daniel Wray was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development after two years as Associate AD for Development. He came to Moraga after spending the previous year with Furman University as the Director of Development.Â
Wray was instrumental in the planning, execution, and solicitation on behalf of Furman Athletics yielding back-to-back record-breaking years of over $10 million during the 2021 fiscal year and over $13.5 million during the 2022 fiscal year, an increase of nearly 300% from the previous four years. He also helped grow the number of donors by nearly 10% and increased the total number of gifts to Furman by nearly 20%. Wray also contributed to the design and implementation of the new Furman Athletics Fund model.
He spent nearly two years (2019-2021) with Southern Virginia University where held two roles: Director of Athletics Annual Giving and External Affairs, and as an assistant men's basketball coach. As a member of the executive athletics staff, he successfully designed and implemented the first Athletics Annual Fund in SVU history, achieving goals of 300 members and $30,000 raised. He cultivated and aided in the solicitations of major gifts for Knight Stadium enhancement totaling over $950,000 and designed and implemented a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, and solicit contributions for the enhancement and restoration of Shriner Field worth approximately $1.25 million.
Wray earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Utah State in 2014 and added a Master of Arts in the same field in 2016 from Boise State University, where he served as an instructor in English to freshmen students. He was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy from Ohio State in 2019.
