Evan Roehrig joined the Saint Mary's Athletics Department as the Director of Athletics Communications in May of 2024 after spending nearly five years with the Sports Information team at Sonoma State University. Hailing from San Diego, Roehrig was a multi-sport athlete in high school and was able to take his talents to the collegiate level with the Sonoma State men's soccer team. There, he was a four year starter under long time head coach Marcus Ziemer and helped the Seawolves to a finals appearance in the 2016 CCAA tournament and their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2010.

In his four years as a Seawolf, Roehrig played in 69 games and made 60 starts, scoring three goals, had seven assists and tallied over 5,000 minutes of action for a top-10 mark in program history. He continued his playing career shortly after college with National Premier League Soccer (NPSL) side Sonoma County Sol with several other SSU alumni.

With a passion for sports and college athletics, Roehrig began as a student intern in the Sonoma State athletics department in 2018 and worked alongside now Deputy Athletics Director Jared Chasey and former SID Dave Cox. During his final two years at SSU, he operated as a student-assistant helping cover the Seawolves basketball teams and eventually becoming the official stat keeper, learning the NCAA Genius Live Stats software. Upon graduating in the winter of 2019, Roehrig stepped in as an emergency hire with the department as a Communications & Marketing Specialist, helping assist with everything related to Sports Information and Game Operations for the department.

COVID-19 would shutdown the remainder of the season just months later but Roehrig would help initiate several media campaigns including Alumni Spotlights to help produce content during the 2020-21 athletic year, leading to his permanent hire later that summer. In the spring of 2021, the Seawolves golf teams would get approval for NCAA competition and Roehrig would run and operate two golf tournaments and then cover the men's golf team as they qualified for the National Championships after a fourth place regional finish in Washington.

During his near five year career at Sonoma State, Roehrig has helped conduct two website redesigns, successfully hosted three postseason events including the 2023 NCAA Men's Golf Regional, created the official NIL partnership webpage for SSU student-athletes and assisted in a full logo redesign in the summer of 2023. He has had a hand in several aspects of college athletics including sports information, game operations, broadcasting and marketing. Roehrig has also worked with the University of San Francisco and Dominican University as an official stat inputter for their men's and women's basketball teams.

He graduated Magna Cumme laude from Sonoma State with a BS in Kinesiology and was a four-time CCAA All-Academic recipient. Roehrig is excited to take the next step in his professional career and join one of the most successful universities in the West Coast Conference. Â
