Stephen Trembley

Stephen Trembley is in his first season as Saint Mary’s College’s associate athletics director for external relations.  In his role with the Gaels, Trembley oversees communications, digital media, ESPN+ broadcasts, social media, on-campus marketing, fan engagement/in-game presentation and creative services.

As a 17-year veteran in college sports administration, Trembley’s leadership has fueled innovative and strategic partnerships in athlete and ambassador brand enhancement, budget management, corporate sponsor activation, operations and fan engagement.

In developing strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders, Trembley led Fresno State Athletics’ broadcasting, public relations & strategic communications, social media engagement & marketing, and digital media for the institution’s Division I sports, including an NCAA men’s basketball tournament appearance in 2016 and international basketball tours in Australia and Italy. He also coordinated media and brand development campaigns for first round professional draft picks (Paul George & Aaron Judge).

Trembley has day-to-day experience as primary liaison to the Emmy award-winning Mountain West Network and executive producer for digital, podcast, radio, television, and video board productions — focused on intentional news agency storytelling, creating new revenue and dynamic asset and workflow management.  Airing on UniMas, he was executive producer for the first exclusively Spanish-language television broadcast in NCAA football bowl subdivision (FBS) history in 2023.

In 2023-24, Trembley was one of two FBS representatives in the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Fellowship program and served on the MW’s 25th Season Recognition Committee. He also served on CSC’s New Media Committee (2023-25).

Trembley was a two-term Executive Vice President for Fresno State's Associated Students, Inc. In this role, he represented over 20,000 students and oversaw public relations, leadership development, daily operations and special projects as chief operating officer.  During college, he also interned in news and sports at KTVU-Oakland, and reported for KFSR 90.7 FM’s “Fresno State Weekly.”

He has been featured on the Bulldog Sports Network, KMJ and ESPN Radio, and consulted with ESPN, CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network, Time Warner SportsNet and the WAC Sports Network.

Trembley, who is from San Ramon, CA, received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Fresno State (a B.A. in Mass Communication & Journalism and a M.A. in Kinesiology).  He graduated with University Honors as a Smittcamp Family Honors College scholar.
