The Saint Mary's men's and women's swim programs made history this past weekend, competing in their first ever meet at the PAC Invite to kick off their inaugural season. True freshman Jack Culberson became the program's first event winner after finishing first in the 500 Yard Free with a time of 4:41.70 to be named the program's first Department Student-Athlete of the Week.
The Texas native, like several other Gaels, made his collegiate debut at the PAC Invite at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center in Stockton and competed in three events for Saint Mary's. Along with his individual win in the 500 Free, Culberson also recorded a 13th place finish in the 200 Free (1:44.48) and was a member of the Gaels' 800 Free Relay team that was the top finishing SMC squad with a time of 6:51.13 good for fourth place overall. Saint Mary's finished in fourth place out of six teams on the women's side and fourth out of five teams on the men's side to conclude its historic weekend.
