Season tickets for the 2001-02 Saint Mary's College men's and women's basketball season are now on sale. This is your chance to reserve your seat for what promises to be another exciting chapter in Saint Mary's basketball history.
Coming off the best season in school history, in which the Saint Mary's women's team posted a 26-6 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the 2001-02 schedule will be the toughest in the program's history. The Gaels will play a total of nine teams that reached post-season play - four NCAA Tournament teams and five WNIT teams.
On the men's side, the Gaels will be led by first-year head coach Randy Bennett. A 1986 UC San Diego graduate, Bennett takes the helm of the program after a two-year stint as the top assistant at Saint Louis University. With the Billikens, Bennett helped turn a sub .500 program into an NCAA Tournament team that knocked off #1 Cincinnati in his first year. Bennett has great familiarity with the West Coast Conference having coached for Pepperdine (1996-99) and San Diego (1989-1996).
Season ticket prices still remain among the lowest in Division I college basketball. New to the menu this year is the opportunity to purchase women's season tickets in the VIP Section, including a padded chair, elevated view behind the basket and complimentary Hors d'Oeuvres and soft drinks from 30 minutes prior to the game until half time.
