AAfter ten years in hibernation, the GAEL FORCE is back with a vengeance. The FORCE is seeking the most spirited, crazy and loony students on campus to come out and wreak havoc on our opposing teams, while cheering the Gaels on to victory.
"We want the people that will just go nuts at games, goofy dances, face painting, and being rowdy are all strongly encouraged," said Club President Christina Rodriguez. "No more 'Down in front,' in the student section, everyone is encouraged to participate and have a good time."
The end-zone will be the home of the GAEL FORCE at the football games, decorated with banners, signs, balloons, noise makers everything and anything to add spirit. All GAEL FORCE members will have matching shirts as well as a rewards club card that will be punched for every game they attend. They will earn more prizes the more the games they go to. Among the prizes offered are football tee shirts, movie passes, one year subscription to 24 Hour Fitness and even a round trip airfare for two to Hawaii and a $400 hotel voucher.
All half-time promotions are exclusive to GAEL FORCE members only. Prizes include Warriors, 49ers and Raiders tickets, and dinner and limousine ride to San Francisco. Members will learn the fight song as well other Saint Mary's traditions, and ring the Bell after every Gael score.
"We have the teams, now we want the fans," says Amanda Matthews, Vice President of GAEL FORCE. "We want what Gonzaga has in the Kennel Club, fans that never sit down and make games difficult for opposing teams. We want Saint Mary's to be the place where teams hate to play because of us."
The Gael Force is the club to join this year. Tradition is coming back to Saint Mary's where it has been dormant for way to long. The opposition is going to soon find out that there is finally a home-field advantage at Saint Mary's.
Students interested in joining the GAEL FORCE are asked to contact the spirit team hot line at (925) 631-8800. The cost of the membership is $10.
