Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's women's volleyball team fell in a non-conference match to Sacramento State, 3-0. Individual game scores were 23-30, 18-30, and 23-30. With the loss the Gaels fell to 6-16 overall, while the Hornets improved to 19-9.
In game one, Sacramento State used a late 6-0 run to take a commanding 28-21 lead. Saint Mary's would get no closer than within six points of the Hornet lead the rest of the way. Sacramento State had seven team blocks in the frame while the Gaels hit .064.
In the second game, the Hornets used a 7-1 run to take a 25-14 lead and cruised the rest of the way. Sacramento State committed just two attack errors in the game.
Saint Mary's jumped out to a 21-18 lead in game three before the Hornets went on an 11-1 run to take a 29-22 lead. Shannon Arts of Sacramento State served eight-consecutive points during the run.
Leading the way for the Gaels was Lindsey Bogason, who posted a match-high 14 kills. Senior Setter Brooke Lowry contributed a match-high 35 assists and added nine digs, while Kaui Salzman chalked up a team-high 11 digs. Stacey O'Connor posted a .357 hitting percentage in the match.
The Hornets were led by Lisa Beauchene, who posted a match-high .727 hitting percentage with eight kills in 11 attempts and no errors. Beauchene also posted a team-high 30 assists and a match-high 12 digs, while also adding five blocks. Bandimere chipped in with 12 kills, while Jayme Wright and Mallory Hook posted 10 digs a-piece.
The Gaels will return to WCC play on Saturday, November 9 when they play San Diego at 7:05 p.m. in McKeon Pavilion.
