Saint Mary's came out swinging in the first game, and was led by the powerful arm of Jill Parmele. Parmele posted six kills and hit .500 in the first game, providing Saint Mary's with the momentum it needed to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

In game two, the Gaels continued to ride on the coattails of the first game's momentum, but San Diego stuck with them and quietly took a commanding lead. A series of attack errors by the Gaels provided the Toreros with the lead they needed to pull away. San Diego eventually won the second game by a 10-point margin.

Saint Mary's managed to pull away from a 22-22 tie score and take a 26-23 lead on a kill by Erin Gravert. The Gaels then continued on to a 3-point 28-25 lead courtesy of a kill by Rachel Avilla, but Avilla's kill would be the Gaels' final point of the game. The Toreros closed the game out with a 5-0 run, winning by a margin of two points.

Game four was close through the first half, with the Gaels rebounding from a 13-10 deficit to tie the score 16-16. However, the Toreros took the final lead of the night after a kill by Bridget Merritt gave them a one-point, 17-16 advantage. The Toreros won the game by seven points.
