LOS ANGELES (AP) - Chase Poole scored 14 points and had 12 rebounds as St. Mary's beat Loyola Marymount 62-44 on Friday.
It was the second straight win for the Gaels, who had previously lost nine straight games.
St. Mary's (7-15, 2-7 West Coast) led 12-2 after the first 7:00 of play. Loyola Marymount did not score its first basket until Sean Mollins hit a jump shot with 12:42 left in the first half.
The Gaels, who led 39-21 at halftime, outrebounded the Lions 46-27 and held Loyola to 17-of-50 shooting.
Loyola Marymount (9-14, 2-7) pulled to within 47-35 with 12:36 remaining, but could not mount a further comeback in losing their sixth straight.
Kent Dennis led the Lions with 15 points.
