Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's softball team (7-23) completed their appearance at the 10th Annual Captial Classic Softball Tournament in Sacramento, CA this afternoon following a 5-1 loss to San Jose State (12-21). The Gaels completed the tournament with one win and six losses.
On Thursday, March 14, the Gaels suffered a 10-2 loss to Wisconsin. Then on Friday, March 15, the Gaels lost to Long Island by a score of 5-3. They then shutout Utah State 1-0 and suffered a 8-0 loss to Nebraska. On Saturday, March 16, the Gaels then fell to Syracuse and San Jose State by a score of 5-1 in both games.
Kami Gray was the top hitter for the Gaels in the tournament as she went 6-for-16 with two RBI and one walk. Gray currently leads the team with a .258 batting average.
Laura Connors finished the tournament 4-for-16 with two RBI, while Tiffany Redding went 3-for-17 with one double and one RBI.
Jordan Larsen lead the Gaels on the mound as she went 1-2. In 19.2 innings pitched, Larsen struck out 12 and walked three. Larsen currently leads the team with a 3.66 earned run average and is now 3-6.
Jennifer Eaton pitched 19 innings for the Gaels, striking out 10, walking eight, and allowing 27 hits. She is now 2-12 with a 3.82 earned run average.
The Gaels will return to Cottrell Field on Tuesday, March 19 as they host Humbolt State. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
