Stanford, CA - The Cardinal defeated the Gaels for the second time this season tonight at Stanford Stadium. This year in the newly formed Mountain Pacific Lacrosse League (MPLL) Stanford is 3-0 and Saint Mary's is 0-3.

The Cardinal got on the board first with an unassisted goal by sophomore Abbi Hills at 4:11 into the first half. The Gaels answered with a goal 16 seconds later by senior Megan Bryan, but Stanford countered with three more goals over the next six minutes. The scoring was nearly even for the rest of the half and the teams went into halftime with Stanford leading 6-5.

Stanford got the second half going with another goal by Hills (at 37:07) and one by senior tri-captain Liz Britt (at 42:56) to push the lead back to three goals. Saint Mary's scored two more goals to match the Cardinal's over the next 10 minutes and at 48:35 the Cardinal led 9-7. For the final 10 minutes, however, the Cardinal defense shut down the Gaels and the offense took over - with Stanford scoring another six goals to the Gaels zero goals to end the game 15-7.

Bryan recorded a hat-trick with three goals to lead the Gaels. Liz Roberts notched her second hat-trick of the season and second against Stanford with three goals. Colette Spencer added the other goal for Saint Mary's.
