Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team (8-12) picked up is second win of the day by defeated in the Sonoma State Cossacks, 7-0 on Friday afternoon from the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex in Moraga.
Saint Mary's cruised through the first two matches of doubles play 8-2 and 8-1, at number-one and number-two, respectively. The Gaels' doubles pair of Josh Farley and Philip Laubscher, playing at number-three, had to go to a tie-breaker to win their match, 9-8 (7-5), to complete the doubles sweep.
The Gaels would continue to dominate the match, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. The closest match was at number-one as Frank Schmitt defeated Sonoma State's Mark Krzysik 7-5, 6-2. J.J. Whitlinger's posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory at number-three for Saint Mary's.
The Gaels will return to action on Thursday, April 4 when they host Santa Clara at 3:00 p.m. at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
