San Jose, CA - Lindsey Bogason led a balanced hitting attack with a new career-high 20 kills as the Gaels defeated San Jose State, 30-24, 18-30, 25-30, 30-21, 15-10, in a non-conference match at Spartan Gymnasium Friday evening.
Bogason hit .321 for the match and added four blocks. Senior setter Brooke Lowry did a fantastic job of setting her teammates up to score, posting a new career-high of 60 assists in the match. Lowry also had nine digs and 3 blocks.
Jill Parmele had her third double-double of the year, posting 18 kills, 16 digs, and five blocks. Stacey O'Connor had a team-high seven blocks and added 13 kills. O'Connor currently leads the West Coast Conference with 1.4 blocks per game. Freshmen Kaui Salzman and Erin Gravert also chipped in for the Gaels with 12 digs and 5 blocks, respectively. Senior Meg Hauser tallied nine digs, four kills, and one block in the match.
Stephanie Pascucci led the Spartan's attack with 18 kills and hit .484 for the match. She and Katherine Powers each had nine blocks in the match. Kimberly Noble had 14 kills, while Jeanine Haldi had a season high 23 digs. Liz Hudson added 13 kills and 13 digs.
The Gaels will continue on the road next week, when they play their first two conference matches of the season. The Gael's first West Coast Conference match will be against the Universtiy of San Francisco on Friday, October 4 at War Memorial Gymnasium. In its second conference match of the season the Gaels will play #19 Santa Clara on Saturday, October 5 at the Leavey Center. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.
