Volleyball Downed By Oregon State, 3-0

Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's women's volleyball team was defeated by the visiting Oregon State Beavers by a final score of 3-0. Games scores for the match were 30-27, 30-25, and 30-26. With the loss the Gaels fall to 3-1 on the season.

Despite a difficult and hard fought match against the Beavers, the Gaels struggled as a team by finishing with a .129 attacking percentage. Though Saint Mary's recorded more aces then the Beavers, Oregon State's power game proved to be too much for Saint Mary's. The Beavers 55 kills and 64 digs, eventually overwhelmed the Gaels who finished with 39 kills and 55 digs.

Senior Jill Parmele had another outstanding evening after recording 16 kills and nine digs for the match. Her .231 attacking percentage was only second on the team behind junior Stacey O'Connor who ended the match with a .278 attacking percentage. O'Connor also led the Gaels in block assists with three.

Also contributing for the Gaels were Kaui Salzman and Cassandra Kolkka. Salzman had another solid match after posting nine kills and 13 digs. Kolkka's total of 16 digs were a match-high.

The Gaels' next match will be in the Cal Poly Tournament on Friday September 5 against host Cal Poly at 7:00 PM.
