Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's College Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports, Carl R. Clapp, today announced that Kami Gray and John James Ph.D., will join the Athletic Department. Gray will serve as the Director of Compliance, on an interim basis, while James will join the staff as the Coordinator of Sport Psychology, on a part-time basis. Both Gray and James will take over their new roles effective immediately.
"I am pleased to announce the additions of Kami Gray and John James to our Athletic Department staff," Clapp said. "Both have contributed to the department the past two years, and I look forward to their continued contributions."
Kami Gray takes over the Director of Compliance position after serving as the Graduate Assistant for Summer Camps for the past two years. In her new position, Gray will be responsible for organizing, initiating, administering, monitoring and evaluating a comprehensive NCAA, West Coast Conference and institutional compliance program. Gray replaces Stephanie Shrieve, who left Saint Mary's in July to take a position at UC Irvine.
John James Ph.D. will assume a position that was created due to his involvement with the SMC athletic department for the past two years. In his position as the Coordinator of Sport Psychology, James will be charged to develop and foster a performance-oriented culture that supports achievement in the classroom and competitively for student athletes.
James, who received the Michael Gibbons Award in 2004, which honors the SMC athletic department volunteer of the year, is an internationally known educator and psychotherapist.
