Men's Tennis Blanks Sonoma State

March 10, 2005

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team blanked visiting Sonoma State, walking away with a 7-0 victory on Thursday afternoon at Korth Tennis Complex. With the victory, the Gaels improved to 4-8 on the season.

The Gaels began with doubles play, winning all three matches. The team of Yury Platonov and Julien Tizot won 8-3, J.J. Whitlinger and Adam Fauvre won 8-3 and Andre Sion and Dan Anderson won 8-1.

In singles action, Sion won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, Tizot won 6-1, 6-1, Fauvre won 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 11-9, Yury Platonov won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Whitlinger won 6-3, 6-4 and at No. 6 Tim Welty won 6-1, 6-1.

The Gaels return to action on Sunday, March 13, when they host Northern Colorado at 2 p.m. at the Korth Tennis Complex.
