
Men's Basketball Ends Australian Tour with Loss to Tigers

Melbourne, Australia - The Saint Mary's men's basketball team ended their Australian tour with a 110-96 defeat to the Melbourne Tigers of the National Basketball League. Once again Daniel Kickert paced the Gaels with 23 points and Reda Rhalimi posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Saint Mary's was unable to recover from a slow start, resulting in 14-point lost to the Tigers in Cairns. The final game of the Australian tour saw the Gaels playing catch up after trailing by as many as 20 points in the first half. SMC was able to regain its form in the second half, enabling them to cut the lead to eight points with five minutes remaining, but it was not enough as the Tigers prevailed.
There were some bright spots to the game as several players made significant contributions. Reda Rhalimi played perhaps his best game of the tour, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds on 8 of 14 shooting from the field. Daniel Kickert continued his offensive prowness with 23 points and Brett Collins added 13 points.
