"Paint the Gym Red Night" this Saturday Versus Gonzaga

Jan. 4, 2006

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's basketball game versus No. 8 Gonzaga on Saturday, January 7, at 8:05 p.m. has been designated a "Paint the Gym Red Night." All fans are asked to wear red in support of the Gaels. Go Gaels Placards will be given out at the door to those fans wearing Red.

Gonzaga and Saint Mary's were picked to finish first and second respectively in the pre-season WCC Coaches' Poll. Saint Mary's finished the non-conference season at 7-5, and have won six of their past seven games, including an upset victory over No. 20 Nevada last Saturday in McKeon Pavilion. Gonzaga enters conference play with a 10-3 mark, and is ranked as high as No. 8 in the latest Associated Press Poll. The Gaels are looking for a repeat performance of last year's victory, when they defeated the #11 Bulldogs 89-80 in Moraga.

"Beat the Zags" t-shirts are currently on sale for $15 on SMCGaels.com and can also be purchased at the game. The cheer team will also be selling the shirts on campus to students beginning today.

Saturday night's game is SOLD OUT, but it will be televised on ESPNU, which marks the first time in history ESPN has televised a game from McKeon Pavilion. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:05 p.m., and the doors will open at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as parking and seating will be at a premium.
