Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team swept Sonoma State 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the Gaels' home opener at Korth Tennis Complex. The win also marks the first of the young season for Saint Mary's.
The Gaels, who improved to 1-3, won the doubles point behind victories by Adam Fauvre and Martin Marechal, Achim Christner and Yury Platonov and Dan Anderson and Thomas Dawson-Roberts.
In singles action, the Gaels swept Sonoma State with Marechal winning at No. 1, Julien Tizot won at No. 2, Fauvre at three, Christner at No. 4, Alp Ozpinar won at No. 5 and Tim Welty won at No. 6.
The Gaels return to action on Saturday, February 18 at the University of the Pacific at 1 p.m.
