Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's Director of Athletics Mark Orr announced a restructuring within the athletic department, that has the staff excited working under Orr and preparing for the upcoming season.
In 2004 Saint Mary's College Athletics adopted a new strategic plan to ensure success in the school's future. These changes have included increased resources to all the athletic programs, the hiring of new coaches and most recently the adjustments to the staff of the Athletic Department.
With the move of Orr to Director of Athletics, the Athletic Department Staff needed to be rearranged. Kari Montero was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics for Student Support Services/Senior Woman Administrator and Kami Gray was promoted from her previous position to the Director of Business Operations.
Mark Chiarucci, who works for the College's Development Office, has been promoted to the Director of Athletic Development. Chiarucci, who oversees the fundraising efforts for the Athletic Department, will also oversee the Marketing Staff, which includes the areas of Marketing and Advertising, Promotions, External Relations and Ticket Operations. The Marketing Staff will include Mike Samuels, Katie Davis and Tom Carroll.
Mike Samuels will move from his position as the Director of Ticket Operations onto the Marketing Staff as the Director of Marketing and Advertising. In his position, Samuels will oversee the Marketing of SMC's 14 intercollegiate sports, advertising and promotional materials.
Katie Davis, who was the Director of Marketing and Promotions, will also be part of the Marketing Staff. Davis' new title is Director of External Relations and she will oversee the areas of community service, public speaking engagements, and assist with marketing and promotions.
Tom Carroll will be the third member of the Marketing Staff and will move from the athletic travel position into Ticket Operations as the Director of Ticket Sales and Operations.
Of his staff, Orr said "They are very important to the success of Saint Mary's Athletics. I look forward to the staff being an important piece of the college's future challenges."
