Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's College of California has hired Osaki Design, INC., an Oakland based sports marketing and design firm, to redesign the new Gael logo. Osaki Design, INC. comes very highly recommended after recently completing projects for San Diego State University and Sacramento State University.
The Saint Mary's Athletic Department will design a dynamic, consistent and recognizable Gael logo that will fit within the institution's own identity system. This new identity system will consist of primary and secondary marks, including a style guide. The College has formed a 20-member design review committee made up of representatives from the alumni association, faculty, staff, student life, athletic department, coaches, and students. The purpose of the design review committee is to provide direction, and input on the wide range of designs presented by Osaki Design, INC. This committee is being co-chaired by Katie Davis, Director of External Relations and Mike Samuels, Director of Marketing and Advertising.
The design process will begin in August and conclude in November. This entire process will cover everything from the research phase, which will include historical fact gathering, interviews with alumni and community leaders to one-one interviews with coaches, players and members of the institution. Focus groups and surveys will also be conducted with season ticket holders, community members and alumni.
An exact date for the unveiling of the new logo has yet to be determined, but a tentative timeline indicates the process should be completed by November.
