Moraga, CA - The 2007-08 season marks the 100th year of men's basketball at Saint Mary's College. To recognize the 100 years of basketball, Saint Mary's will release the top-25 players of the last century. Saint Mary's counted down players 25 through 17 on the nine days counting down to the opening game of the year and then will announce the top 16 players at each home game through out the year.
Number 11 on the SMC All-Century team is 1999 West Coast Conference Player of the Year, Eric Schraeder. Eric became the first SMC player in 37 years to be named the conference Player of the Year. During the 1998-99 season, Eric averaged 19.8 points per game and set a Saint Mary's single season record by scoring 614 points. He started all 31 games for the Gaels that year, and finished his career ranked fourth all-time in scoring with 1,396 career points.

The Denver, Colorado native was a two-time All-WCC selection and finished his four-year career with the most games played and his 114 appearances currently ranks fourth in the school's record books. The 6-9 forward had a career scoring averaging of 12.2 points per game. He averaged 4.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor and 39.8 percent from 3-point range.
As a sophomore, Eric was an instrumental part of the Gaels' run to a 1997 Co-WCC Regular Season Championship, the third in school history. He helped the Gaels earn their only WCC Tournament Title, as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for just the third time. That year he made 31 appearances, started 10 games, and averaged 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
His junior season he averaged 15.7 points and 6.9 rebounds en route to being named to the All-WCC Honorable Mention team. That year he would set a Saint Mary's school record for 3-pointers made in a game when he was 8-for-11 from behind the arc against Iowa State on Nov. 25, 1998. Eric finished his career with the fifth most 3-pointers made with 170 and his career 3-point field goal percentage of 39.8 percent ranks sixth all-time.
Players 16-through-1 will be released at each home game during the season, with No. 10 being announced at halftime of the game between SMC and Howard on December 28. The best player in the history of the program will be named at the Gaels' final home game of the season on February 25 when SMC hosts San Diego at 7 p.m.
