Power Plant Policy - Use of the SMC Power Plant is strictly limited to SMC students, faculty and staff.
- All individuals must adhere to policies and guidelines.
- Hours, availability of facility and policies are subject to change without notice.
- Report any misconduct/injury to staff/strength and conditioning coach immediately.
Athletic Teams
- Team must show up for all scheduled lifting/conditioning at scheduled times
- Scheduling weight room times occurs each semester before class registration
- If there is a conflict in times, the strength and conditioning coaches and Athletic Director will have the final decision
- All training must be directed by a certified strength and conditioning coach
- Sport coaches are not allowed to bring their team into the weight room without their strength and conditioning coaches being present or having permission
- Wear SMC-issued gear and apparel to all workouts
Power Plant Facility Guidelines - Do not drop or slam weights
- Re-rack weights after use
- No iron plates on platforms
- Keep chalk in chalk bin
- Do not alter, disassemble or remove any equipment from weight room
- Use of spotter is highly recommended
- If you are unsure how to use a piece of equipment of perform an exercise, consult strength and conditioning coach or staff before attempting exercise.
- Do not use weight room when staff/coach is not present
- Store all bags, keys, phones inside cubbies
- Keep all water bottles inside cubbies and off floor
- Do not play with radio; ask staff/strength coach for assistance
- Do not use office phones or computers
- Appropriate workout attire and footwear must be worn at all times
- No denim
- Athletic clothing must be worn
- Athletic Shoes must be worn at all times
- Shirts must be worn at all times
- No food, gum or drink in weight room
- Use water cooler by entrance or water fountain outside
- Plastic water bottles only; NO GLASS containers
- Store water bottles in cubbies
- Be courteous and show respect to others
- No aggressive or violent behavior
- No offensive or foul language
- Use of cardio equipment is limited to 30 minutes when others are waiting
- Strength and Conditioning Coaches office is off-limits
- Priority is given to Varsity Athletic Teams during designated hours
- Show up 5 minutes before scheduled work time
- Keep front door unlocked during open hours
- Lock all windows and doors at the end of day
- Wear athletic clothing
- Re-rack weights every hour
- Wipe down equipment with Cavicide during the last 15 minutes of your shift

Monday-Thursday 9:00am - 9:00pm
Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Saturday 11:00-5:00pm
Sunday 3:00-9:00pm
Home Men's Basketball Games CLOSED
Varsity Teams Open Hours 6:00am - 6:00pm most days
**Failure to comply with any of the above policies and regulations may result in the loss of all power plant privileges.**
Weight Room Rules
1. Do not use weight room when staff/coach is not present
2. Dress appropriately: shorts/pants, shirts, running shoes - No denim
3. Store all bags, water bottles, keys, phones inside cubbies
4. Do not remove any equipment from the weight room
5. Put all equipment away after use
6. Do not place dumbbells or plates on the floor or benches
7. Do all exercises away from overhead dangers
8. Use spotters when needed

Emergency Medical Services
A. Pick up "RED" phone
From Cell Phone
1. 925-831-4282 Public Safety (they will get here fast and call 911)
2. 911 (if put on hold call Public safety)
B. Say:
"You are activating the Emergency Action Plan for Saint Mary's Power Plant - the Weight Room"
If Contacting Public Safety, tell them you are in the Power Plant Weight Room
If Contacting 911, tell them the nature of injury and directions to the Power Plant
Directions:
Located on De La Salle Drive, in between Assumption Hall and Saint Joseph Hall. From Saint Mary's Parkway, make Left onto De La Salle Drive and follow to Power Plant Building on Right. To reach the weight room, take the side road between Power Plant and Saint Joseph Hall - it goes down hill. Follow to entrance.
C. Give the nature of the injury, if you know it. Inform them who is on the scene (athletic trainers, physicians, coaches, student workers, etc.) Tell them someone will meet them at the driveway entrance. Give them your name and phone number and stay on the line until otherwise directed.

A. Evacuate Building
B. Go across street out of harms way
C. Contact Public Safety x4282 or 911 and report (from another building or emergency call box on top of hill)
Earthquake Emergency
A. Duck and Cover
B. Stay away from windows
C. Once over stay together and report to Broussaeu Hall (if it caused damage to area)
Other Emergency
A. Call Campus police x4282
B. Use Call box emergency button to report situation if no phone available
C. Stay away from danger until help can come
Power Outage
A. Exit Facility
B. Cannot return until power is back on
